I’ve had one of those weeks, well, couple of weeks, to be honest. All my usual moments to write in my journal were stolen away with one thing and another. So on Tuesday night I had to drive with my daughter somewhere she needed to go. She’s on the second phase of her learner’s permit and has to complete 25 hours of driving. I waited for her down the road and spent the best part of an hour just writing in my journal. It was one of those head down lost to the world moments. I seriously needed to write in my journal.
I hope you manage to grab any moment you can to write in your journal. Please leave any comments in the section below.

While reading Inside Motherhood today I came across the entry, written by Heather, When Do You Start? Her question is on when do you start shopping and/or planning for Christmas. With only 140 days left I suppose it would be a good idea to start planning now if you haven’t already begun.
A small notebook or pretty journal would be good for your planning. You can list and check off presents and all those little tasks you need to get around to. You can have a financial planning section so you don’t get in over your head with debt. Why not cover & decorate a plain journal in Christmas colours to use each year? This could be a great way to use up some of those old Christmas cards. The previous years would be a great reference so you don’t leave anything undone.
I hope you found this entry useful. Please feel free to leave any comments in the section below.

Is there someone you really miss? This someone could be alive or dead. Most of us miss the company of someone special at some time or another. Today spend some time writing in your journal writing to this person using the unsent letter technique. Write all the reasons you miss them, the memories you hold dear, and the things you would love to do when or if you could meet up again. If there is something between the two of you, unresolved or still to be discussed, go into this in the letter. If there is anything you need to let go or forgive them for, write this out in your letter. It’s up to you to decide if the letter should be sent if the person is still living.
I hope you enjoy this journal writing prompt. Please feel free to leave any comments in the section below.

It’s been said that life is one lesson after another. We learn and grow through many experiences. There are small lessons and large life altering lessons. What is the greatest lesson you have learnt about life so far? Spend some time writing in your journal about your lessons in life. Identify the major ones and then select one you feel has been your greatest lesson. Why is this lesson greater than the others? How life changing was this lesson? Are you able to offer good advice to others going through a similar experience? Should you share advice with others or let them learn on their own? Would you be able to write a lesson plan about this experience to teach someone else?
I hope you enjoy this journal writing prompt. Please feel free to share any thoughts or comments in the section below.

Today is Friday and that means it’s Freaky Friday. If you need to know more about this journal writing challenge please read the First Freaky Friday entry.
While thinking about ideas for Freaky Friday I came across a blog entry by Steve Pavlina on using change of perspective as a problem solving tool. He had some ideas on how you can change perspective to gain solutions to problems you are experiencing.
Try this with a problem you are currently struggling with. Write in your journal about the problem. Go into detail. Now think on your problem from a different perspective. Try being your doctor, parent, best friend, or some other trusted person, or just try to let your journal speak to you. I hope you find a solution to your problem and enjoy this journal writing challenge. Please leave any comments in the section below.

I’ve always enjoyed cartoons as a kid and maybe even more so now I’m grown up. One of the characters I’ve always identified with is Daffy Duck. There’s something about his unashamed covetousness that has always struck a nerve with me. He is really proud to be so materialistic. Not that I consider myself as having that problem, but he’s just not shy about his faults. I’d like to be so confident, or is he really just arrogant?
Anyway, which cartoon character do you most identify with? If you need to find them online and print out a few pictures to use in your journal entry.

For my birthday this year hubby gave me a Border’s voucher. I spent an afternoon in the store looking through all kinds of books and things until I decided on a book, but I had to order it in. I knew hubby wouldn’t be happy if I came home from my little outing empty handed, so I picked up this gorgeous plush purple velvet journal and matching gel pen. It wasn’t like I really needed either of these presents, but I was able to sit and have a journal session as soon as I left the store. What fun journal gifts have you bought for yourself recently?

While reading and researching online I came across an interesting article on keeping a diabetes journal. The ideas are simple and known to many who keep a regular journal, but would be a great benefit to those with diabetes. The idea links in with keeping a food journal.
It seems the very act of writing down what you’ve eaten makes you feel more accountable. But for those suffering with diabetes the ability to look for patterns of behaviour is most useful, especially if you are monitoring your blood sugar levels throughout the day. You can check for the foods, situations and emotions that trigger a high blood sugar episode.
Have you used a journal as a diet or diabetes tool? Please share any comments in the section below.

Just in case you don’t regularly check out any of the other blogs in this Lifestyle Channel I’ve decided to share a few entries from Chloe at Tangled Thread. She has kindly written up and photographed an entire step by step tutorial on how to cover a notebook in fabric. You can’t go wrong. Here are the steps in order:
Intro
Step One
Step Two
Step Three
Step Four
Please take a moment to leave a comment on the Tangled Thread blog if you appreciated the tutorial. And feel free to leave any comments in the section below. I’m particularly interested if you have a cool tutorial for something journal, notebook or visual journal related, so leave a link if you like.
